Director Announced for Sweeney Todd – Welcome Phoebe Long-Soday

Stage Ready are excited to announce the appointment of Phoebe Long-Soday as the Director of our upcoming production of Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls.

Following our call out for key creatives and crew last month, we were overwhelmed with the response and we are so grateful to all those who reached out and shared their vision with us. Originally we had thought to take on a co-director, but once we met with Phoebe she convinced us that she was more than capable of leading as main director, both in terms of artistic and practical acumen, and we know she will bring this wonderful script by Lucia Beretta to life.

We have worked with Phoebe before on a small production of Anton Chekhov’s The Proposal, in which she played Natalya. At the time she very much impressed us with her intelligence and enthusiasm, and we were very happy that she expressed an interest in directing our play.

Since graduating in a BA Drama and Performance from London Southbank University in 2019, Phoebe has acted in a number of roles including Friar Tuck in Robin Hood at The Hawth Amphitheatre, and has attended ACTT Stage Combat courses to improve her craft.
