Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls
An Open-Book, Profit-Share Production
Stage Ready are seeking passionate, committed performers for an exciting new play version of Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls, a thrilling re-imagining of the original penny-dreadful tale about a psychopathic barber in Fleet Street and a widowed pie maker in Bell Yard. Performances will be 23rd – 28th March 2026 at the beautiful Chequer Mead Theatre.

Mr Lovett Was The First Pie!
Directed by the amazing Phoebe Long-Soday, this is an open-book, profit-share production, with transparent accounting and fair distribution of any proceeds among cast and crew based on a pre-defined points system. Travelling expenses will not be covered.
All roles are open. We welcome performers of all backgrounds, genders, and experience levels. Ensemble members will be fully involved in the storytelling, with opportunities for featured moments.
We have lots of great characters to find, with strong leads, exciting secondaries and a fun ensemble. We also require a puppet operator for Hecta the Indian Bakharwal dog. Where playing gender isn’t important, we have mark as M/F and names/titles of the characters will be amended accordingly. We have marked the characters with the rough playing age, but there is some flexibility in this for the right actor.
